This Friday, a judge granted a $154,000 bond for the white Florida woman who has been charged with fatally shooting a Black neighbor through her front door.

After pleading not guilty to a first-degree felony charge of manslaughter with a firearm, as well as counts of culpable negligence, battery, and assault, Miss Susan Louise Lorincz, 58, of Ocala returned to court in Marion County where she was given the bond under a few conditions. Circuit Court Judge Robert Hodges ordered Lorincz to wear an ankle monitor and also stay away from the family of the woman she senselessly murdered, 34-year-old Ajike Owens.

Following the Friday hearing, the family’s attorneys, Anthony Thomas, told reporters that they want Lorincz to face a more serious charge of second-degree murder and will push for that to happen.

“We don’t believe that Susan had any sort of respect at all for human life,” Thomas said per ABC News affiliate KSTP-TV. “This wasn’t something where she was cleaning a gun and the gun went off and it goes through the wall or the door and it accidentally hurts somebody. She meant to pull that trigger. She meant to point it at the door.”

More On The Tragic Murder Of Ajike Owens

The mother of four was killed last week by Lorincz. The incident began as Owens’ children were playing in a field next to one of the buildings in an Ocala apartment complex on June 2. The suspected shooter yelled at the children, according to a news release from the family’s attorneys. Not only did she yell at the kids to get off of her property but the neighbor threw something at Ajike “AJ” Shantrell Owens’ children, who were playing near the neighbor’s home in Ocala. Owens, 35, went to the neighbor’s home to speak with her and was fatally shot, according to the family’s attorneys.

“My daughter, my grandchildren’s mother, was shot and killed with her 9-year-old son standing next to her,” Owens’ mother, Pamela Dias, said Monday during a press conference. “She had no weapon. She posed no imminent threat to anyone.”

According to an updated report, Lorincz, 58, admitted to detectives that she called the children “the n-word.” It was also said that Lorincz “came out of her house and gave the children the middle finger” and also said this: “Get away from my house, you Black slave,” according to the report.

In a statement to investigators after the shooting, Lorincz was quoted saying she had problems for two years with children in the neighborhood as she claims they had an issue “respecting” her… even the victim’s children, who range in age from 3 to 12 years old…

Authorities had initially delayed her arrest for several days while disappointingly looking into a possible “stand your ground” claim. However, after coming to their senses, detectives eventually realized that Lorincz’s actions were not justifiable under Florida law.
