In July 2018, Jaycee Wasso allegedly persuaded her client Lin Halfon to steal money from her 80-year-old husband. According to MEAWW, Halfon attempted to deposit a million-dollar cashier’s check into the bank account of her then-husband, Richard Rappaport. Law enforcement noticed red flags in the bank withdrawal and linked the crime to Wasso and her accomplice, John Grancer, 50.

Wasso met Halfon in 2017 when she was reportedly going through a rough time in her life and told her she felt “darkness” from her. She apparently told Halfon that she was the victim of a family curse and offered her psychic services. Halfon would give her money in hopes that she would be able to get rid of the family curse by using spells and get rid of unwanted spirits.

Some of the messages Wasso sent to Halfon scared her. One of them allegedly said, “Lin, the spirits want me to tell you what’s going on. Your mother is going to die. You’re going to lose everything. You’re going to be sent away. You are going into darkness. Darkness is going to possess you.” Halfon testified in court Tuesday that she did not believe in the spirits.

Halfon met her husband, Richard Rappaport, a year after she lived in Massachusetts working at a mall kiosk. The pair reportedly developed a friendship, resulting in a marriage so Halfon could remain in the country since she was born in Israel. However, a defense attorney accused Halfon of deceiving her husband and claimed Wasso was younger than her and had no education.

But prosecutors said there was evidence that proved Wasso manipulated Halfon into giving her money and used scare tactics when she wanted to stop the services.

“It offends me that you want to go against all the work I’ve done. I know what I’m doing, Lin.”

Wasso also requested that Halfon give Rappaport’s business name and personal info so she could “block” someone from interfering in their relationship.

“Lin, make sure you kiss him today. Be flirty. Look good. Tell him how much he means. Make him dinner. Lin, yes, kiss him. We need money from him soon. Kiss him on the lips. But not fast. Longer.”

Currently, Wasso is facing fraud, money laundering, and grand theft auto charges. Halfon was deported back to Israel after she served a 13-month sentence for stealing jewelry and money from her husband.
