A Florida man who recently went viral after driving a drunk girl home is speaking out and telling the public that he’s thankful for all the praises and nice comments, but adds, “Don’t praise me,” because the heroic and selfless act he performed, “should be the norm.”

Earlier this month, a young man named Ronny went viral after a woman named Daisy Hernandez posted a video to her TikTok showing Ronny bringing her young daughter home, who was sorrowful and inebriated.

The video shared to Hernandez’s TikTok was taken from her Ring doorbell camera, she says her daughter “was getting dropped off after a party.” In her caption she wrote, “Lord, it’s me again.” She went on to hashtag: “The Second Child;” “‘”Thanks Ronnie;” “Don’t Drink And Drive;” “My Wild Child.”

As the video begins, viewers see Ronny leading the way onto the family’s front porch with Hernandez’s daughter walking behind him. She is seen with an armful of her belongings (cellphone, purse), along with what appears to be a McDonald’s Happy Meal, and what appears to be a glass bottle of alcohol.

As Ronny opens the front door to the home, holding it open for the young drunk girl to walk through, she leans forward towards the ring camera and says, “Hey mommy. Mommy, I’m so sorry.”

As the girl walks in the house, Ronny closes the door shut and then leans into the camera himself to tell Hernandez and family, “Hi. My name is Ronny. I am sober. I drove her home. My girlfriend’s in the car.” Ronny then walks away from the camera, back to his car.

Taking to the comments, tons of TikTok users flooded the section with praises for Ronny. One user wrote, “Ronny! Way to be a good human. Thank you!” Another wrote, “We need more Ronnys in this world!” Another said, “I love how he made sure to add that his girlfriend is there. Like he was reassuring that there was no funny business between them.”

Another person wrote, “God bless Ronnie!,” and responding, Hernandez wrote, “Yes. Bless his heart having to deal with his girlfriend and my daughter being drunk. By [the] looks of McDonald’s in her hands, it wasn’t a short ride home.”

After he went viral on TikTok for driving the young drunk girl home, Ronny was eventually found and tagged in the original post, and has since responded with a video of his own.

Ronny said, “I just want to say thank you for all the kind comments, for all the private messages, and everything, all the attention. That video is like five months old, and I did not expect her to post that. What I did, I did out of the kindness of my heart. I wasn’t expecting anything in return. But, now that I am here, and now that I have the ten minutes of fame, I wanted to take this time to say that what I’m doing, it shouldn’t be praised.”

The young man who went viral added, “It shouldn’t be something that is out of the ordinary, that people step out of there to go to that person’s page and be like, ‘Thank you for what you did.’ It should be the normal. It should be the standard. I was always told while growing up that if you are in the position to help or you have the ability to help, then you need to help. Regardless of what it is, if it doesn’t inconvenience you, do it. It didn’t inconvenience me and I did it. Just work on it, make what I did the normal thing to do.”
