The girl was identified as Stella Cattarossi and she lived in apartment 501 where she shared a room with her mother. Hours after Thursday’s collapse, the child’s body was discovered while her father was one of the first-responders to search and rescue survivors. Her father and his brother used his jacket to cover Stella’s body and placed an American flag on top of it before carrying his daughter away from the area.
“We were able to bring her and then at least give him an opportunity to say his farewells,” said Miami Rescue Dapt. Ignatius Carroll. The firefighter’s identity was not revealed but he has worked for the fire department for 10 years.
