Firearms Now Banned On Delta Flights To Washington D.C. Ahead Of Inauguration

Ahead of the 2020 Presidential Inauguration, firearms have now been banned on all Delta flights headed to Washington, D.C., regardless of being checked and placed in luggage under the plane.

The ban arrives as a precautionary move after the treasonous and deadly Capitol riots on January 6; and ahead of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris being sworn in on Wednesday, January 20. The new rule is set to take effect on Saturday (Jan. 16) and will run though Saturday (Jan. 23).

The new ban also follows the FBI’s “No-Fly list,” which has been effective in yanking suspects off of flights as they tried to fly home after the riots. Delta CEO Ed Bastian says, “We’re all on high alert.” Meanwhile the Federal Aviation Administration says any passengers who “interfere with, physically assault, or threaten to physically assault aircraft crew or anyone else on an aircraft” will be subject to fines up to $35,000 and face imprisonment. Additionally, AirBnb has stepped up to further prevent violence next week by canceling and declining reservations in the D.C. area around the inauguration.
