Should Travis Scott be in the slammer over the Astroworld tragedy? The man behind the new documentary sure thinks so.
Filmmaker Charlie Minn who created the doc titled “Concert Crush” believes the rapper needs to do some time in jail after his festival left 10 people dead and hundreds injured. While speaking with Page Six, Minn labeled the entertainer “a punk:” “In my opinion, he is a criminal. Ten people died. How do we get around that?”
He went on to say, “The reason he deserves criticism and jail time, he knew there was a problem,” Minn claims. “He acknowledged an ambulance in the crowd. He noticed people passed out and stopped the show on three occasions. I’m not saying he knew people were dead, but he knew there was a problem. An ambulance is not an ice cream truck.” Despite his feelings towards Travis, Minn says his mission is to give victims a voice. He also says he hopes “every concert organizer and promoter uses Astroworld as a model of what not to do.” “I don’t want to see another person get hurt at a concert again,” he says. “Last time I checked you are supposed to go for fun and not to fight for your life.” Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Scott told Page Six, “Mr. Scott has not seen the movie. No one really has.” The rep also called the film a “blatant piece of propaganda.”
The news site notes that a source close to Scott also said, “This movie is not a serious investigative piece,” and called it “biased,” noting it was actually produced by a lawyer for the plaintiffs.

The doc includes interviews with eight people who attended the concert and who detail what happened that night. It is set to play in select theaters in Texas starting Friday for just one week, Page Six notes. It is also available to stream online.
After the November 5 event, Travis Scott issued a public apology to his fans. He said at the time, “Over the last week, Travis Scott and his team have been actively exploring routes of connection with each and every family affected by the tragedy through the appropriate liaisons” the statement read. “He is distraught by the situation and desperately wishes to share his condolences and provide aid to them as soon as possible, but wants to remain respectful of each family’s wishes on how they’d best like to be connected. To those families who would like to reach out directly to his team, please send an email to the below address where we will have a team on hand to assist.”
While Travis Scott has tried to keep a low profile, he is set to make his return to the big stage as he’s been named the headliner of the Sau Paulo weekend of the Primavera Sound festival in November. TMZ reports Tha the concert is expected to draw more than 100,000 people. Scott is expected to play three shows total, in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires (Nov. 12) and Santiago, Chile (Nov. 13).
