Female Air Force Lt. Betsy Schoeller Slammed For Saying Vanessa Guillen “Deserved” To Be Sexually Harassed

A female Air Force Lt. is facing backlash after she stated that Vanessa Guillen deserved to be sexually harassed because it’s what women have to deal when with they are enlisted in the Army.

Air Force Lt. Col. Betsy Schoeller posted the disturbing comments on a Facebook thread where a friend shared an article about Vanessa Guillen and her tragic death. The soldier was killed after telling her friends and family about a superior who sexually harassed her. In the comment thread, Schoeller chastised other Facebook users who expressed sympathy for Guillen and her family.

She says,”You guys are kidding, right? Sexual harassment is the price of admission for women into the good ole boy club, If you’re gonna cry like a snowflake about it, you’re gonna pay the price.’”

The now-deleted post has caused outrage leading to a Change.org petition to be made asking the University of Wisconsin to fire Schoeller from her current position. Additionally, Schoeller’s comments come hours after Guillen’s family confirmed she was bludgeoned to death with a hammer in the armory room.

 

A statement from the University of Wisconsin I’m regards to the veteran’s comments has yet to be released.
