According to CNN and MSNBC, there have been emails sent around trying to intimidate voters and spread false information in an attempt to suppress turnout and undermine American confidence in the vote, officials said Wednesday night. The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) warned that foreign hackers will likely try to continue to spread disinformation around election results.

It was said that both countries have also obtained voter registration information. However, despite that, officials said Americans can be confident that their vote will be counted.

“These actions are desperate attempts by desperate adversaries,” said John Ratcliffe, the government’s top intelligence official, who, along with FBI Director Chris Wray, insisted the U.S. would impose costs on any foreign countries that interfere in the 2020 U.S. election, the news site notes.
