Bodycam footage also resurfaced after a witness contacted 911 about a domestic dispute involving Petito and Laundrie where they saw him allegedly slapping her during an argument.
Petito appeared to be hysterical in the footage but Laundrie assured police that she was having a “breakdown” and officers left the scene after speaking with the couple in Moab, Utah. The situation is also noted in a police report where it says “no one reported that the male struck the female.”
Investigators also searched his parents’ home for more evidence and his home was deemed a crime scene after the discovery of Petito’s remains.
