FBI Charges Proud Boys Leader Joe Biggs For Role In Capitol Riot

As Donald Trump leaves the White House, the FBI charges Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs (above, right) for his role in the treasonous and fatal Capitol riot on January 6. The far-right group organizer was arrested in Florida, and has been officially charged in the tragic event that left five people dead, including a Capitol police officer earlier this month.

Biggs’ faces charges of obstructing, influencing, or impeding an official proceeding; knowingly entering a restricted building without lawful authority; and willfully and knowingly engaging in disorderly conduct to impede a session of Congress. Meanwhile, he co-leader Enrique Tarrio (above, left) was arrested on January 4 and taken into custody on suspicion of destruction of property for allegedly destroying a Black Lives Matter sign at a historic Washington, D.C. church last month.

Per a criminal complaint signed by an FBI agent working the case, Biggs was identified in multiple videos and photos. Biggs’ charges claim he was one of the first mob members to enter the Capitol building, reportedly via a door opened by a small group that got in after breaking a window with a police body shield. Biggs has since admitted to investigators that he entered the building, but denied forcing his way through and having “any knowledge of any pre-planning of storming the Capitol,” including who planned it.
