According to KHOU 11, 21-year-old Antonio Devonte Hicks Sr brought his son, Antonio Jr., to the Houston Northwest Emergency Room Saturday afternoon. Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department reported that the toddler had multiple injuries and they were inconsistent with Hicks’ testimony of how he sustained the injuries. He told deputies that he was attacked by a stranger while walking with his son.

Later on, Hicks confessed to striking his son multiple times in the chest after he lost his temper during a potty training session. The boy’s mother said to police she heard slaps and hard punches from the other room. When she went to check in on her son, he was unresponsive.
