Fat Joe is squashing his beef with Irv Gotti after all the drama over Ashanti. If you recall, things all began after Gotti’s appearance on ‘Drink Champs.’ He spoke of his rumored sexual relationship with Ashanti.
At the time of his interview, Irv wholly said, “So, ‘Happy,’ let me explain how the lyrics and how I worked her… So, we’re together. We just finished sleeping together, or whatever, I’m taking a shower. I’m in the shower, you know, a n***a be creative after [sex] … I think of the whole track in the shower … The energy, that record came about ’cause of our energy.”
In addition to claiming that their rumored romantic relationship “helped” her career, by spawning her hit “Happy,” Gotti continued to namedrop “The Princess of Hip-Hop & R&B” throughout the episode.
Fat Joe ended up going live and called Gotti a “sucka” for his controversial remarks. Joe then goes on to say that he had no idea about Irv and Ashanti sleeping together.
“Whatever Irv has with Ashanti is 20 years old. I know he was making some points that mean a lot to him, his heart and soul, but when you keep ranting about somebody 20 years later, it felt like he’s not over the young lady.
Also, we didn’t know that they was f*cking. ‘Cause the whole time, I’m there! “What’s Luv,” Big Pun record, on tour — I never seen them together like that. Now I’m not saying they wasn’t; they was, or there was rumors they was. I never seen it. But I don’t need to know!”
Despite the streets talking, Joe affirms that Irv and Ashanti’s business is their business and that Irv shouldn’t still be bringing things up from 20 years ago, if he has moved on, so he has been saying.
Ashanti’s labelmate and close friend/collaborator Ja Rule ended up jumping in it as well.
Jumping into Hollywood Unlocked’s comment section, Ja said:
“[CAP] STOP saying I didn’t defend sis and all women when I clearly told Gotti stop calling Ashanti/women the B word same way I told Joe at Verzuz watch the interview before you talk sh*t… NOW LEAVE ME TF OUT THESE GROWN FOLKS BUSINESS. [red heart emoji].”

A few weeks later, Fat Joe is now ending the beef. During a recent live, he briefly addressed things.
He said, “Irv Gotti said ‘I’m no longer his friend.’ And he’s correct. Because I’m his brother. And I love him, I love his entire family. I love his mother. I love his sisters. I love his brothers. I love his sons. I love them all. Sometimes, brothers check each other. And that’s the furthest I’mma go.”
