On October 28, Shanquella Robinson, 25, left for vacation with several friends, but she never returned home. When Shanqulla’s mother, Salamondra Robinson, last spoke with her that Friday, she told her she was going out to dinner. However, one of her friends called the next day to let her know she wasn’t feeling well. Later, Salamondra and her husband Bernard learned that their daughter had passed away from alcohol poisoning, but the couple thought the diagnosis sounded strange.
“After they said it was alcohol poisoning, we received the autopsy report on Thursday, and it said that her neck had been broken and she had a back spasm, there was a crack, the spinal cord was cracked,” she explained to WBTV. Social media sleuths also uncovered a video of Shanquella allegedly fighting with one of the friends from the Cabo vacation.

Shanquella’s body was sent to the family two weeks after she passed away, and her funeral was set for last Thursday. The family added that they had been in touch with the Charlotte FBI office and are considering employing a private detective if the case goes unsolved.
The U.S. Department of State said to the outlet they are “protecting the privacy” of those involved in the incident.
“We are aware of these reports. Protecting the welfare of U.S. citizens overseas is among our top priorities. Out of respect for the privacy of those involved, we have no further comment at this time.”
Before her death, Robinson owned a hair-braiding business in Charlotte.
