Now, Facebook has used Giphy’s API on Instagram, the Facebook app, and WhatsApp. However, the social media giant now plans to further integrate its library of animated pictures into the Instagram experience. Many Instagram users have been encouraging Instagram to fully implement this feature on the platform for years and it looks like they will finally get what they want!

As many know, companies like Slack and Twitter have built Giphy into their apps. Even Apple uses some Giphy images for its GIF feature in iMessage. But as of right now, it is unclear if Facebook will those relationships to keep Giphy primarily on Facebook’s apps.

Meanwhile, Instagram did say in a tweet that third parties will still be allowed to use Giphy images.

“People will still be able to upload GIFs; developers and API partners will continue to have the same access to GIPHY’s APIs, and GIPHY’s creative community will still be able to create great content,” Vishal Shah, vice president of product, said in the news release.

Further details on the integration have not been shared yet. But until then, let us know your thoughts on this in the comment box below!
