Elon Musk Says He’s Financially Supported His Dad Since He Run Out Of Money In The ’90s, After Previously Calling Him A ‘Terrible Human Being’

Elon Musk has taken to Twitter, saying he and his brother have supported their father Errol Musk ever since he ran out of money back in the 1990s. The Tesla founder, who is also known as the richest man in the world with a $276 billion net worth, had responded to a tweet by UC Berkeley academic Robert Reich, who claimed Elon grew up wealthy because his father owned an emerald mine back in South Africa.

In response to the assertion, the 51-year-old wrote, “Errol ran out of money in the 90’s. My brother & I financially supported him & his extended family in South Africa since then on condition that he not do bad things. Unfortunately, he did do bad things :(“ While Elon did not elaborate on the “bad things” his father had done, his remark seems to correlate with a previous interview he did with Rolling Stone in 2017, where he described his father as a “terrible human being.”

“You have no idea about how bad. Almost every crime you can possibly think of, he has done. Almost every evil thing you could possibly think of, he has done. Um… It’s so terrible, you can’t believe it,” the tech mogul told the publication at the time. Elon’s latest comments about his dad come just two months after the 76-year-old said he had quietly fathered a second child with his stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout, 35, in 2019.

“She looks exactly like Rushi [their son] and she behaves like him. So it’s pretty obvious you know,” he informed The Sun in an exclusive interview over the summer. “She wasn’t planned. But I mean, we were living together. She [Jana] stayed here for about 18 months after Rushi was born.

“But I realised she’s two generations behind whereas her mother was one generation behind when I married her. So any man who marries a woman, even if you feel very sprightly, it’s going to be nice for a while. But there’s a big gap… And that gap is going to show itself.”

A few weeks after his rather scandalous confession, Errol appeared on Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, where he insisted that Elon should go on a diet — a comment sparked by shirtless photos of Elon enjoying his vacation in the Aegean Sea.

“Elon is very well-built and he is very, very strongly built, but he’s been eating badly,” explained, suggesting that his son either cleans up his diet or consider the idea of trying weight loss pills called garcinia cambogia, which Errol — who speaks from his own personal experience — says have done wonders in keeping the weight down.
