Elderly California Couple Drive Off 70-Foot Cliff & Survive With Minor Injuries

After driving off a 70-foot cliff and landing in a lake, an elderly couple in California have miraculously survived the plunge, both walking away with only minor injuries.

The Amador County Sheriff’s Office say, along with California Highway Patrol, Jackson Valley Fire Department and Ione Fire Department personnel, they rescued the 83-year-old driver and his 90-year-old wife after they plunged off the cliff and landed in Lake Camanche near Campo Seco around 10 p.m., on Wednesday (Apr 15).

For the unnamed couple, who were driving a dark-colored sedan, officials said, “Lucky for them, the water level was very low, and they landed in only about four feet of water.”

No further details were given by officials, but they did take to their Facebook page with photos of the crash, showing the rescue of the couple by emergency personnel.
