Eddie Murphy’s ‘Coming 2 America’ Headed To Amazon Prime In $125M Deal
Amazon Prime just knocked the socks off of Paramount as the digital platform is now set to release Eddie Murphy‘s ‘Coming 2 America‘ in a reported $125 million deal!
Murphy’s sequel to his 1988 cult-classic is now in the process of being sold by Paramount to Amazon Studios in a deal worth roughly $125 million. Additionally, the streaming premiere is due on December 18.

While final details are still being ironed out, insiders tell Variety that there may be potential tie-ins with McDonald’s and Crown Royal. Additionally, the move comes during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has placed a huge hurting on the entertainment industry. It appears, so to avoid a failed theatrical success, Paramount is forking over the cult-classic sequel to a streaming giant.
Furthermore, the sequel is set to follow African prince Akeem (Murphy) and his discovery of a son he never knew about in America. Akeem and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) head back to America to groom Akeem’s son as the next crown prince. James Earl jones is set to reprise his role, and with appearances by Tracy Morgan and Jay Pharaoh.
