Eddie Murphy Lists His Best And Worst Films, Talks Mixed Reactions To ‘Norbit’
During a new interview with Complex’s Speedy Morman, Eddie Murphy recalled all of his positive and parody accolades. While naming his “Mount Rushmore” of movies, Murphy shared his four greatest films. He began by rattling off, “‘Coming to America,’ ‘The Nutty Professor, ‘Shrek‘….it’s like a bunch of joints.” Murphy continued to speak on the difficult decision-mkaing process. He said, “If I say ‘48 Hrs,’ I can’t say, ‘Trading Places.'”
Finally after deliberating, He said listed off his final four and said, “‘Coming to America,’ ‘Shrek,’ ‘Nutty Professor,’ ‘48 Hrs.'” He then reconsidered, and acknowledged that ‘Dreamgirls‘ had a bigger and broader appeal to the masses. He said, ‘I’ll take ‘48 Hrs.’ off and put ‘Dreamgirls‘ on. ‘48 Hrs.’ is really good. But, ‘Dreamgirls,’ everybody can enjoy. But, ‘48 Hrs.’ is a guy movie.”

He began by saying, ‘Pluto Nash,’ ‘Holy Man.'” Morman mentioned that ‘Norbit‘ received mixed reactions, even though he liked the film. Murphy agreed that he enjoyed the film too. He proceeded to recall The Razzie Awards harshly criticizing his work in ‘Norbit.’ In the film, Murphy played multiple characters, including Rasputia, Norbit, and Mr. Wong.
He said, “When it came out, I got voted for Razzie’s for the worst actor of the decade, worst actor, and worst actress. They gave me a Razzie for worst actress, worst actor, and worst actor of the decade. I was like, come on, man. Shit ain’t that bad. But to this day, I like ‘Norbit.’ There’s stuff in ‘Norbit’ that makes me laugh.”
