The publication reports that the source claims President Trump is “vacillating” on a commutation for Puff Daddy — who was convicted in a federal sex trafficking and racketeering case.
Additionally, the source for the publication claims some of the White House staffers are arguing against the move. Some staffers in Trump’s administration are reportedly urging him not to commute Diddy’s sentence. However, the source claims, like always, “Trump will do what he wants.” Furthermore, the source says Trump may make this potential move and set Diddy free as early as this week.
During Diddy’s trial, Trump flirted with the idea of pardoning the “half innocent” mogul. In early interviews amid trial, Trump said he wasn’t too sure. He said he was “very friendly” with Puff, but didn’t know him too well. Trump honestly highlighted that Diddy fell out of his good graces after publicly supporting his opponent and former president Joe Biden in the 2020 election. In later interviews, Trump again confirmed Diddy’s lawyers’ pardon request, but didn’t share his stance.
Hours before the news broke, TMZ first reported that Diddy filed a Notice of Appeal to reverse his conviction and sentence in his federal case. The publication cited new legal documents filed in federal court in New York on Monday (October 20). The docs list Alexandra A.E. Shapiro as Diddy’s lawyer. Furthermore, Diddy’s legal team looks to file their substantive brief for the appeal in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Diddy Convicted In Federal Sex Trafficking And Racketeering Case, Sentenced To 50 Months In Prison
As previously reported, on October 3, Diddy, born Sean Combs, was sentenced to 50 months (or 4 years) in federal prison for violating the Mann Act. On July 2, he was convicted on two charges of transportation across state lines for the purpose of prostitution, which is known as the Mann Act. He was acquitted on his more serious counts of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Diddy has already served 13 months in custody at the Brooklyn MDC (Metropolitan Detention Center). With credit, the mogul could potentially get out in about 2 years — that is, without a pardon from Trump. In the meantime, he is still awaiting a prison assignment. However, he has previously requested to serve his time in New Jersey.
The mogul’s lawyers requested his placement at FCI Fort Dix “for RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) purposes and any other available educational and occupational programs.” Judge Arun Subramanian, the justice in Diddy’s case, said he would not approve the preferred prison request. However, he said he “will recommend” a facility in the defense’s selected location.
