In a new interview, former President Donald Trump not only dodged questions about recently telling Christians they “won’t need to vote again” after making him President again, but he also slams Vice President Kamala Harris, adding that he’ll “probably end up debating” her after running from the idea all month.

On Monday (July 29), Donald Trump sat with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who repeatedly probed him about his comments at a conservative Christian summit on Friday (July 26).

During the event, Trump boasted, “Christians, get out and vote just this time! You won’t have to do it anymore! Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed. It’ll be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you, Christians. I’m not Christian, I love you. You got to get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote.”

Reacting to Trump’s comments, VP Harris’ campaign team slammed him and said he’s destroying democracy. Harris for President Spokesperson James Singer said, “When Vice President Harris says this election is about freedom she means it. Our democracy is under assault by criminal Donald Trump. Donald Trump wants to take America backward, to a politics of hate, chaos, and fear – this November America will unite around Vice President Kamala Harris to stop him.”

In his interview with Laura Ingraham, Donald Trump neglected to clearly clarify his comments despite her pressing him. Trump began, “Let me say what I meant by that. I had a tremendous crowd, speaking to Christians. I mean, this was a crowd that liked me a lot — I think I’m 97% or something — and they’re treated very badly by this administration. Catholics are treated unbelievably. They’re like persecuted. Jewish people — if you are Jewish and you vote Joe Biden or the Democrats or Kamala, you should have your head examined, because nobody’s been treated so badly.”

Trying to return to the question, Trump said, “That statement I made is very simple. I said, ‘Vote for me. You’re not going to have to do it ever again.’ That’s true because we have to get the vote out. Christians are not known as a big voting group. They don’t vote! And I’m explaining that to them. You never vote. This time vote. I’ll straighten out the country, you won’t have to vote anymore. I won’t need your vote.”

When Ingraham claimed that Democrats believe that Trump’s comments meant that he’ll never leave office and become a dictator, he stated, “It’s just unbelievable.” He said he will “of course” leave office after four years.

Ingraham soon pivots and brings up all of the hoopla over Donald Trump seemingly avoiding a debate with Kamala Harris. As he did with the first question, Trump rambled about a couple of other things and then finally said, “I like debating. I’ve done a lot of debates. I’ve won the debates. Didn’t they say I won the election because of that? I don’t mind.”

He continued, “They were pushing for this early debate and I said, ‘Why do we want to do an early debate?’ It didn’t make sense to me. Turned out, I was right, but for the wrong reasons. I want to do a debate. But I also can say this. Everybody knows who I am. And now people know who she is. She’s a radical left lunatic. She’ll destroy our country. She wants open borders…”

Ingraham interjected and again asked, “Why not debate her?” Trump continued to ramble on about all of the things he dislikes about VP Harris and how she handles her job. Ingraham told Trump that people are going to keep claiming he’s afraid to debate VP Harris and he said, “They said that with Biden too.” He eventually said, “The answer is this: Yes, I will probably end up debating.”
