Don Lemon has thrown his support behind his former colleague T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach following reports of their “affair” last week. As we previously reported, the “GMA 3” co-anchors allegedly started their romance back in March, with things turning serious by June when they flew out to London to cover the Queen’s Jubilee. Two months later, the married pair both filed for divorce from their significant others and have been spotted cozied up together out in New York on numerous occasions.
Don has since shared his thoughts about the situation, which reportedly led TV exec and network president Kim Godwin to take both Amy and T.J. off the air in an announcement shared with staff members on Monday. “I’ll say this, I know T.J., I worked with T.J. at CNN, so I have nothing but love for him and I hope that he’s OK,” Don told Entertainment Tonight.
“I don’t know about their situation, I’m not privy enough, but I just like to offer people love and support and I hope that they’re OK and hope that they continue to prosper.” Don also touched on the news that Amy and T.J. won’t be co-hosting “GMA 3” for the time being, stressing that he remains hopeful they’ll return back to our TV screens soon.
An insider told PEOPLE earlier this week how “Good Morning America” producers felt it was the wisest decision to take the T.J. and Amy off the air for the time being following a heap of unwanted media attention. They are said to be calling this their “period of cooling down,” implying that having both anchors removed from their slots will allow the scandal to die down, because “they thought this was unwanted attention so, for the time being, they’re going to be off the air.”

Furthermore, it was claimed that while the controversial relationship between the rumored couple only came to light last week, staffers have apparently known for a while and they haven’t been happy about it either.
It still remains unclear whether both Amy and T.J. were separated at the time of their alleged affair, given that they only filed for divorce in August — with their romance allegedly starting earlier in the year — but either way, the scandal has certainly stunned regular “GMA” viewers.
