Monday was filled with back-to-back shocking announcements. As we previously reported, Don Lemmon announced that he was terminated from CNN after being with the network for 17 long years. In a statement, he said he was “stunned” by the decision and expressed frustration with the manner in which he says the news was delivered to him.
Amid that big news, it was also reported that Tucker Carlson and Fox News had “agreed to part ways.” However, later that day it was revealed that Carlson was let go just 10 minutes before the network released a statement announcing his departure… without any heads up, sources told The Wall Street Journal.
According to new reports, the two don’t plan to go out without a fight! Business Insider reports that the two have just hired the same powerhouse lawyer to handle their departures.
Former CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter reported that both Carlson and Lemon are retaining Bryan Freedman’s services. The New York Times also wrote that Lemon had hired Freedman. The famed attorney previously worked to help former host Megyn Kelly secure around $30 million from NBC News after she decided to make her exit from the network back in 2019.
Former CNN anchor, Chris Cuomo, who was fired in December 2021, also hired Freedman in his ongoing wrongful termination suit against the network for a whopping $125 million.
More On Don Lemon And Tucker Carlson’s Firings
Lemon’s full Monday statement read, “I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned,” he tweeted in a fiery post. “After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me directly.
“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.
“With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”

Despite that, CNN later hit back and said in a tweet that Lemon’s claims that he was terminated abruptly were “inaccurate.”

“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate. He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”
Lemon has not yet reacted to CNN’s latest tweet.
Meanwhile, Tucker has been pretty silent following news about his termination. Neither network has provided a clear reason why they decided to boot them from its platforms.
