Do You Agree? Cameron Diaz Says Married Couples Should Normalize Having “Separate Bedrooms, Houses”

#Socialites, get into this! Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz has come forward to advocate for a rather unconventional approach to marital bliss. During a recent episode of her podcast “Lipstick on the Rim,” Diaz boldly declared that married couples should consider having separate bedrooms or even separate houses. Yes, you read that right – separate houses!

The beloved actress, who is happily married to musician Benji Madden, shared her views on the podcast, leaving listeners both intrigued and slightly bewildered. Diaz explained that while she and her husband do not currently sleep in separate rooms, she would be perfectly fine with the idea. In fact, she went a step further and proposed the concept of having separate bedrooms but a shared middle bedroom for “relations.”

“We should normalize separate bedrooms,” Diaz said on the show before explaining her reasoning. “To me, I would literally, I have my house, you have yours. We have the family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in my room. You go sleep in your room. I’m fine,” Diaz said. “And we have the bedroom in the middle that we can convene in for our relations.”

Now, when one of the hosts joked the revelation might be super controversial, the group continued to joke and say she shouldn’t have shared it. However, Diaz quipped,

“I’ve already said it.” She went on to clarify: “By the way, I don’t feel that way now because my husband is so wonderful. I said that before I got married.”

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden began dating in May 2014 and got married on January 5, 2015. They had a beautiful private ceremony at their home in Beverly Hills, California. It was a lovely start to their journey together. The two welcomed their daughter, Raddix, in January 2020.

Diaz’s unconventional take on marriage has sparked a flurry of debates among couples everywhere. Some argue that her suggestion is a breath of fresh air, a revolutionary idea that could potentially save marriages from the monotony of sharing the same space day in and day out. After all, absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? Plus, having separate bedrooms might just eliminate those late-night arguments about snoring or hogging the blankets.

On the other hand, skeptics argue that Diaz’s proposal is a slippery slope towards the dissolution of the sacred bond of marriage. They worry that separate bedrooms could lead to separate lives, with couples drifting apart and losing that essential sense of togetherness. After all, isn’t marriage about sharing your life, including your sleeping space, with your partner?

Regardless of where you stand on the matter, it’s clear that Diaz and Madden are enjoying the married life on their own terms.

Although she tries her best keeps her private life private, in 2016 she did boast about how great it is to be married to the love of her life.

“It’s pretty awesome. I didn’t think it was something I’d do, and I don’t know if I’d have done it if I hadn’t met my husband. It was a surprise.” She also added that “no one compares” to the rocker.
