After initially dropping the first iteration of their list in June, simply dubbed, ‘The Hottest Females Rappers Right Now,’ on Wednesday (December 4), Billboard returned to release the newest version of the list, a final ranking of the year, dubbed, ‘The 10 Hottest Female Rappers of 2024.’

In June, Nicki Minaj reigned supreme at the top of the list. Following Minaj was Sexyy Red at No. 2, Megan Thee Stallion at No. 3, Doja Cat at No. 4, Ice Spice at No. 5, GloRilla at No. 6 Cardi B at No. 7, Latto at No. 8, JT at No. 9, and Flo Milli at No. 10. Returning with their final ranking of the year, Billboard has now shared their list of ‘The 10 Hottest Female Rappers of 2024.’ Topping the new list is GloRilla, who previously held the No. 6 spot in June.

Billboard wrote that after having a great rookie campaign, GloRilla continued to drop hit after hit, solidifying her spot in Hip-Hop as a female rapper to be reckoned with. Despite facing the sophomore slump in 2023, GloRilla remained triumphant and rediscovered her mojo at the beginning of 2024 and throughout the year.

Billboard’s Carl Lamarre wrote, “The proverbial cherry on top came when GloRilla netted the highest opening week in 2024 for a female rapper when her debut album GLORIOUS entered at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 69,000 album-equivalent units – doubling the release of her spring mixtape ‘Ehhthang Ehhthang.'”

Megan Thee Stallion came in at No. 2 after first ranking at No. 3 in June. Billboard’s G.M. noted that in addition to her musical success, the Houston Hottie turned on her hosting skills and more throughout 2024.

They wrote, “Displaying considerable hosting skills during the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Megan then delivered a one-two punch with the release of deluxe album Megan: Act II and her critically acclaimed Amazon Prime Video documentary ‘Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words.’ But more important for the Grammy-winning superstar are her roles as a philanthropist and humanitarian. In October, Megan partnered with the California Department of Public Health for its youth suicide prevention campaign, Never a Bother.”

Dropping from No. 1 to No. 3 is Nicki Minaj. Despite having a great 2024, having dropped ‘Pink Friday 2‘ in December 2023 and it becoming the best-selling album from a female rapper for 2024, and breaking records while selling out her ‘Pink Friday 2 World Tour‘ (which saw her do 2 legs of), Billboard didn’t quite note why she fell from No. 1 to No. 3.

However, Billboard’s Michael Saponara wrote, “She’s not done with 2024 yet, either. ‘Pink Friday 2: The Hiatus‘ will be the set’s final deluxe installment as Minaj turns the page to a new era, but the batch of tunes should hold the Barbz over well into 2025, when she can reclaim the list’s top slot. But it appears there’s a chance Nicki could step away, and temporarily relinquish the pink diamond-encrusted throne she’s dominated for a decade-plus with LeBron James-esque longevity.”

At No. 4 is Sexyy Red, who dropped from No. 2. Again, Billboard doesn’t exactly pinpoint a reason for the drop in ranking. At No. 5 is Latto, who moved up the list from No. 8 in June. On Latto’s new ranking, Billboard’s Heran Mamo wrote, “What makes Latto’s growth as an artist admirable is the way she stayed true to her roots.”

This was something she really stuck to this year by becoming the first female headliner of Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash, where she brought out fellow ATL-listers like Usher and Summer Walker. Also, T.I. and his Trap Music Museum crowned Latto “Trapper of the Year” and she continued to pay homage to Southern rap by cementing herself in the genre’s legacy on her third album ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea,’ which earned her her first No. 1 on Top Rap Albums chart.

At No. 6 is Doechii and at No. 7 is Doja Cat, who previously ranked No. 5 in June. Billboard’s Andrew Unterberger noted that after the rapper dropped her ‘Scarlet‘ album in late 2023 and its deluxe version, ‘Scarlet 2 Claude,’ in April 2024, the rapper slowed down with the releases, mostly due to her being on her ‘Scarlet Tour,’ and other domestic and international festival appearances.

At No. 8 is JT, who moved up from her No. 9 ranking in June. Billboard’s Kyle Denis noted that JT landed at No. 9 in June before she had dropped her debut solo mixtape, ‘City Cinderella,’ which hit No. 27 on the Billboard 200, selling 26,000 units in its first week, outcharting any City Girls projects.

At No. 9 is Rapsody and at No. 10 is Cardi B, who dropped from No. 7 in June. Billboard’s Damien Scott noted that because the Bronx femcee still hasn’t released her sophomore album, she’s slid down the list a bit. However, with her debut album, ‘Privacy,’ still carrying her, along with other moves in the music, fashion, and even political industries, Cardi continues to remain relevant as she teases her long-awaited sophomore album, which she intended to drop this year, but is now pushing to 2025.
