DHS Suspends Horse Patrols Following Horrific Treatment Of Haitian Migrants

The Department of Homeland Security has temporarily suspended the use of horse patrol in Del Rio, Texas, following outrage in regards to images that surfaced showing the patrols whipping Haitian migrants.

“We have ceased the use of the horse patrol in Del Rio temporarily. We’ll prioritize other methods for identifying individuals who might be in medical distress,” the DHS official said.

The US is “working closely with the government of Mexico and our partners in US government to try to pull on that thread and see how we can enhance visibility into those organized movements.”

As we reported, the shocking images and videos showed a border patrol officer riding on a horse and allegedly whipping Haitian migrants using a leather rein in an attempt to stop the migrants from moving further.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he was “horrified” to CNN, and that “The pictures that I’ve observed troubled me profoundly. Any mistreatment or abuse of a migrant is unacceptable.”

An investigation has been launched into the actions of the border patrol agents who were on duty at the time. This morning, President Joe Biden’s envoy to Haiti resigned, due to the “inhumane” deportation of Haitian migrants from the southern border.
