The June 30 video clip shows a man who was approached by a blue car and the suspect points a long gun towards him. Moments later, several shots were heard and the two police officers flee from the scene instead of stopping to assist the victim and arrest the shooter. Interim Detroit Police Chief James White said during a press conference Friday that officers returned back to the scene to help the victim and added that he was very concerned about the video’s content. The officers’ names were not revealed to the public.
“But I do have some serious police concerns about what we saw. If there’s any good news, it’s that this was caught on the video review, which means our processes are working. It was brought to my attention by a deputy chief from a video review.”

One female officer was placed on suspension while the other one is currently on medical leave but White plans to issue their suspension when they return.
“What did they think they were doing? What went into their thinking?”
White did not disclose any other details concerning the shooting.
