Detroit Police Department Investigating Footage Of Patrol Car Plowing Through Protestors

The Detroit Police Department is investigating an incident after cellphone footage is released showing a patrol car plowing through protestors. The violent clash occurred late Sunday night in Southwest Detroit, where Black Lives Matters protestors peacefully marched the streets on their way back to their start point in Patton Park.

However, along their route, cops arrived, trying to disperse them. After an intense standoff between protestors and an officer in his marked SUV, protestors proceed to swarm the vehicle. Subsequently, the officer slowly moved forward, then floored it, with multiple protestors hitting the asphalt near the cruiser’s wheels, and some hanging onto the vehicle.

One protestor tells the Detroit Free Press, “[the cop] ran over a couple people’s arms, feet. He ran over her phone. I think I was the last person on the car. I was just holding onto the car. I could feel him speeding up and then he did one of these and he flinged me off the car.” Meanwhile, the protestor who filmed the ordeal, Ethan Ketner, states the officer in the patrol car mowed through 10-12 people, including himself, forcing many of them to seek treatment for injuries at local hospitals.
