Daughter Pays Tribute To Mom Who Died During Texas School Shooting And Dad Who Died Shortly After From Heart Attack: “Your names will not be forgotten”

The daughter of Robb Elementary School teacher Irma Garcia who was murdered during the shooting has penned an emotional tribute for her mother, as well as her father Joe Garcia who died due to a heart attack days later.

Lyliana Garcia, 16, wrote the note on a memorial left to her dad at the same place he had laid flowers for his wife Irma, 48, just hours before his death. “Dad, I know this was too much for you. Your heart could not take it. I will spend the rest of my life fighting for you and mom. Your names will not be forgotten. Your daughter, Lyliana,” she wrote, according to The Mirror.

What Has Happened Since The shooting?

A small town in rural Texas is still reeling after a gunman opened fire at an elementary school on Tuesday, killing 19 children and two teachers including Irma Garcia. Prior to opening fire at the school, the suspect also allegedly shot his grandmother, officials said.

As we previously reported, the gunman — identified by authorities as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, a student at Uvalde High School. He was killed following a standoff with police. The gunman’s rampage lasted for over an hour and police found as many as 1,657 rounds of ammunition and 60 magazines in his possession after he was shot dead. The US Department of Justice says it will now investigate the police response to last week’s mass shooting.

The shooter’s mother has since asked for forgiveness while the dad said he wished it was him who got killed, not the innocent kids and teachers at the elementary school.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden met the victims’ families on Sunday. The couple then attended a Catholic Mass at the local Sacred Heart church. Protesters outside the church shouted, “Do something!” as the president walked out.
“We will,” he answered.

“To everyone impacted by the horrific elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas: We grieve with you. We pray with you. We stand with you. And we’re committed to turning this pain into action,” the president posted on Twitter before leaving that evening.
