DaBaby Charged With Felony Battery Over Alleged Music Video Attack
Another day, another problem for DaBaby. The rapper is now facing criminal charges over an alleged attack on a man during a music video shoot.
According to TMZ, DaBaby has been hit with felony battery by the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office over the incident that went down in December last year. The alleged victim, Gary Pagar, was left with serious injuries.
So, what happened? DaBaby and his team reportedly rented a mansion that Pagar manages in L.A. Pagar and he says he was told it was going to be a vacation place for the entertainer and his friends. Pagar says he made clear that there was a guest limit, no more than 12… to which he claims DaBaby’s management team agreed to in a rental agreement. However, Pagar says he became aware there were way more than 12 people at the property during their week-long stay. From there, he complained to DaBaby’s team, but they reportedly assured him that they wouldn’t be there for long. On Dec. 2, Pagar says he visited the pad himself and realized they were shooting a music video there with a film crew and a ton of other people. He believes it was over 40 people there. Pagar tried to shut the whole thing down by talking to DaBaby, but that’s when things apparently went left.
The guy claims he was then attacked by someone in DaBaby’s crew. He says the rapper ordered the guy to get off of Pagar, but got upset at some point and then allegedly sucker-punched him in the face, knocking out his tooth, per the lawsuit. Pagar eventually went to the authorities following the incident and now the feds are coming down on DaBaby.
Clearly, he’s not having a good month. Just last week, the video from his Walmart shooting surfaced online and had many people believing it would send him the slammer. As it was previously reported, DaBaby was accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Jaylin Craig in 2018, an incident the rapper claims was in self-defense. However, his lawyers set the record straight for those who quickly jumped to those conclusions. His attorney’s lawyers, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg explained,
“Witnesses were interviewed and corroborated Mr. Kirk’s statement. The entirety of the surveillance video was viewed and determined to corroborate Mr. Kirk’s statement … Mr. Kirk was protecting himself and his family at the time of the shooting,” TMZ quotes.
What Else Has DaBaby Gotten Into?
A similar incident happened earlier this month when he shot someone who tried to intrude onto his property in North Carolina. DaBaby, 30, born Jonathan Kirk, shot the intruder in the leg after the two exchanged words, sources told the outlet. The rapper later confirmed reports and said he “chose not to take a life” that day: “N***as get shot every day, B. You’ll be aight, n***a. You tough right?” DaBaby captioned the post: “Chose not to take a n***a life the other day, and it felt great. Buddy ain’t deserve to go, I step righteously. Heal up & live my boy! Just don’t bring ya a** back.”
