It’s been a little over a month since Da Brat And wife Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart welcomed their first child together. Now, they’re finally showing off their precious baby boy, True Legend to the world.
In another exclusive with @PEOPLE, the rap star and radio host shared just how much of a blessing it’s been to have a child of her own at age 49.
She told the outlet, “I’m 49, I’m high-risk, I have high blood pressure. So many women so much younger than me want kids and can’t have them, and I had a successful pregnancy,” she says while getting emotional. “It’s just an honor. He’s such a blessing.” Da Brat also posted a heartwarming video to her Instagram this Wednesday which showed the sweet moment she welcomed her bundle of joy. “Look, this came out of my stomach,” she says, pointing to her tiny newborn who can be seen sleeping in the arms of wife Jesseca at their Atlanta home. “I cry every day. I just look at him and boo-hoo, because I’m so grateful.”

While speaking to the outlet for its new “My Extraordinary Family” feature, Da Brat also talked about coming out in 2017 and now being happily married with the family she always dreamed of having.
“I was stuck in the closet for so many years, I thought I would never come out,” she says, “but I met somebody that gave me the courage to live in my own truth. Now I’m happily married.”
As challenging as her pregnancy was as she underwent in vitro fertility (IVF) treatments using eggs from Harris-Dupart and sperm from an anonymous donor — following a heartbreaking miscarriage — Da Brat says, “I think God plans out our journey. I’m very happy He saw fit for me to have him.”
Baby No. 2?
Although Da Brat had no contractions and experienced a little pain just while receiving the epidural ahead of her cesarean section, she admits, “I never want to do that again,” she jokingly says, “but for him, it was worth it.”
Since the duo has shared the adorable snaps of baby True, their fans and close celebrity friends have been gushing over him online. Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey commented “perfect” with the red heart emoji. One fan added, “Been a fan since you began your music journey, love how you got to overcome so much and find true love and happiness. Watch you and Judy all the time and it’s amazing to see the realness and raw love between you too! True Legend is so lucky and blessed! You are going to be the most amazing mother!
