Congratulations are in order for Dancehall legend Vybz Kartel and his fiancée Sidem Öztürk as he subtly announced they are expecting their first child together. He shared the announcement before performing “Come Breed Me.”
The two first met in 2015 as they communicated online and wrote letters to each other after Öztürk, who was a Gaza fan, reached out to the then-imprisoned rapper. They finally met in person after the Turkish beauty traveled from London to visit the rapper in a Jamaican prison.
In August 2022, Kartel, born Adidja Azim Palmer, proposed behind bars. Following his July 2024 prison release, he again, officially, proposed in November 2024. Fast forward to August 2, 2026, when the Jamaican artist performed in London at Reggae Land music festival.
During his set, before playing his 2009 hit “Come Breed Me,” Kartel introduced his soon-to-be wifey onstage and caressed her small, but growing, belly. After performing “Bend Like Banana” and “Dumpa Truck,” Kartel’s DJ began playing the intro music to “Come Breed Me.” However, Kartel said, “Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Can’t rush the process.”

Kartel then called for Öztürk to come out onto the stage with him. He said, “Sidem! Where’s my baby?” Öztürk came out and hugged Kartel, before he said his infamous line, “Kiss me, baby.” After sharing a kiss, he said, “The fans love us. So, let the haters keep watching. So, we wear matching watches. Right? Now, I go tell yuh now. Read between the line. Play the song!”
The DJ started playing “Come Breed Me” again and Kartel began rapping, “Heaven sent yuh be. Mi need mi family. Mi love yuh baby.” Kartel then walked over to Öztürk and placed his hand on her belly. As he lowered his hand to cup the bottom, he then put his ear/head on her stomach. She caressed his back and started to laugh.
Kartel rose back up and smiled at the crowd as they all roared in a celebratory cheer. Kartel’s DJ then paused the music and told the crowd, “Reggae Land, some noise! You have to read between the lines.” As Öztürk started to walk back off stage, Kartel said, “Kiss me before you go, baby.” The DJ repeated himself and Kartel continued to rap the rest of the song about insemination.

Following viral clips from the pregnancy reveal, Kartel took to his Instagram with a video of him and Öztürk back in their hotel suite. As the clip started, Öztürk said, “Heyyy! Come from the best show everrr!” Kartel said, “Damn, baby. Your ice is ice’ing. And now we’re twinning mama.”
Öztürk added, “For life.” Kartel confirmed, “For life. We twinning now, my baby.” Öztürk laid her wrist on top of Kartel’s hand as they both flaunted their iced out watches. She then said, “My baby got me this.” Kartel said, “I know. I know.”
She then flaunted her iced out engagement ring and said, “My baby got me this.” Kartel said, “I did.” Finally, she then Öztürk took both hands and placed it on her belly, adding, “My baby got me this.” She and Kartel laughed, and he said, “I did.” Kartel captioned the post, “My sweet in our suite.”
