Coco Austin is again defending breastfeeding her and husband Ice-T‘s 9-year-old daughter, Chanel Nicole Marrow, until the age of 6.

Coco Austin And Ice-T Slam Mom-Shamers And Criticism Of Breastfeeding 5-Year-Old Daughter Chanel
Coco, 46, isn’t a mother who has shied away from combatting mom-shamers and anyone else with critical commentary about her, her daughter, or 67-year-old rapper-turned-actor husband. In August 2021, we previously shared how Coco had no shame in her game about breastfeeding her then 5-year-old daughter Chanel. She told Us Weekly:
“Chanel still likes my boobs. It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child. Why take that away from her? … If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no.”
A year before this, Coco took to her Instagram about breastfeeding her then-4-year-old daughter and said:
“At this point in nursing it’s just for comfort and believe me the girl loves meat so its not like she isnt eating real food…😁 Thank you to all that understand my view.. i see most of you are so eager to side with me and I too root for you in your journey as well.. Us moms are connected 💗”
Ice-T also defended his wife’s breastfeeding at the time, and said it was a way for Chanel “to get close to her mom.”
Two days after Coco’s statements to Us Weekly, Ice-T again defended his wifey. He took to social media and made some things clear. He tweeted: “News Flash! We feed Chanel FOOD. She just likes to suck mom’s boob every now and then… Me Too!!!”
Nine days after her initial comments with Us Weekly, Coco again addressed the drama. While appearing on E! News Daily Pop, the mom-of-one said she’s “not really an arguer.” However, she does stand by her parenting decisions against critics. She said:
“I just don’t believe society says they should stop at two. You as a mother should stop because they said so. I’m [not] going to stop because I feel like it’s a great bonding experience between her and I. She’s my only child, it’s not like I have a big family of kids, and so I’m savoring every moment with this child.”
During the interview, Coco asked Chanel, “Do you want the boob?” Her baby girl replied with a smile and said, “Yeah.”

Four years after addressing the criticism over breastfeeding her 5-year-old daughter Chanel, Coco Austin is still defending her decision to keep her and Ice-T’s baby girl on her boobs until age 6. While appearing on the Sunday (November 9) episode of Bunnie XO‘s ‘Dumb Blonde‘ podcast, Coco defended the “bonding experience” with her baby girl. She said:
“The whole concept of the breastfeeding thing, it wasn’t like I was feeding her ’cause she needed a meal, right/ She was able to eat by a year. Full solids. It was more of a bonding experience and then more of like, okay, I’ll give you the milk, but it was more like she wanted to be around me.
So, I was like, I’m going to let her stop when she wants to stop. She’s not going to be 16 on my boob. She’s going to eventually figure out, okay, this is kind of strange or weird, and stop. And that happened around six. Which was still an extremely long amount of time, apparently. But, in Europe, they’re doing ’til seven. Like, it’s nothing to them. Americans think that’s weird.”
Host Bunnie XO acknowledged that if both mommy and baby were comfortable with the breastfeeding, then there’s nothing wrong. Coco continued to admit that it was a comforting thing, especially when Chanel was getting ready to go to sleep.
Despite facing tons of criticism, Coco said she had a lot of people supporting her. She said:
“I got so many people that loved it. Like, they were on my side. I had everybody come out of the woodwork when it comes to breastfeeding. Ladies, they were so on my side and I was like, ‘Oh this is so nice.’ Because I was the only one speaking about it. And I’m like, ‘Why is it so hard?’ Like, people have been doing this for thousands of years. Like, it’s not a big thing. It’s a boob.”
Coco continued to reveal that her daughter is “obsessed with boobs” now. She said:
“To this day, though, she’s obsessed with boobs. She loves boobs. She’s always very comforted. She likes pillows and stuff like that. So, she’s like always sitting there, laying on me. It’s just a really nice moment, because it’s like, it’s not going to be like this when they get into the teenage years, you know? So, I’m like, loving every moment I can [get] with Chanel.”
