Former Love & Hip Hop star Chanel West Coast has announced she’s pregnant and expecting her first child with her boyfriend, model Dom Fenison. The reality TV star shared the joyful news in an interview with E! News on Thursday, revealing that while she has yet to find out the gender, she is more so focused on welcoming a healthy baby into the world. “I don’t know if it’s a boy or girl yet. I’m just praying for a happy, healthy baby,” Chanel, whose real name is Chelsea Dudley, told the publication.

“I’m just really excited for this next journey in my life. It’s probably my scariest journey yet, but sometimes the scary roads lead to the best endings.” The New Bae rapper went on to say that from a young age, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in singing, dancing, and television, but now she’s shifting her attention to her baby and whatever dreams they hope to attain later on in life.

The 33-year-old has reportedly been dating Dom for several months now, having recently enjoyed a weekend trip to Coachella, as seen in photos Chanel posted on her Instagram in April, when she dubbed her handsome beau as her “foreva.” And while the TV personality is ecstatic about becoming a mom, she made it no secret that her first trimester was off to a bumpy start after experiencing nausea, though she praised her boyfriend for being “the most level-headed person” as they gear up for parenthood. “Raising children is not an easy thing so you really have to be like that to be a good dad. He’s just so calm and relaxed and I can be a little bit crazier. I think that he’s the perfect balance for me.”

Furthermore, Chanel said she also plans to change the sound of her music, shifting from “turn up songs and ratchet stuff” to reflect the person she is becoming now that she’s set to become a mom. Fans will undoubtedly hear a difference in her music once she returns to the studio to commence work on her next project, affirming that while she’s stepping away from her previous sound, it’ll still be “serious” and “thoughtful.”

“I really want my child to be able to listen to my music and be proud and inspired when they hear it,” Chanel expressed.

The California native made headlines back in June 2021 when she said she believed rapper Nicki Minaj was at fault behind Young Money’s decision not to sign her. Her comments were made in a sit-down chat with Shirley Ju on Shirley’s Temple, where Chanel shed light on being shunned from the label because Nicki allegedly didn’t want the fellow female rapper associated with the Young Money brand.

“It didn’t work out because, basically, it was more because of certain people really not feeling me being part of the clique,” she said, before being asked whether she was referring to the Super Bass chart-topper. “Yeah, yeah, it was that. But I don’t really wanna talk about that because it’s really old. I’m really grateful that Wayne fucked with me and gave me a co-sign and was like, be part of my clique, but yeah, I can’t control what happened. So many different politics that people don’t know behind the scenes.”
