Their statement claims that the agency is working on cutting down the 14-day quarantine period to between 7 to 10 days. It also states that the individual who is quarantining should test negative for the coronavirus. Senior Henry Walke said to the Wall Street Journal that that change was made based on new findings discovered while observing modeling data.

“Hopefully, people would be better able to adhere to quarantine if it was, for example, seven to 10 days.”

Public health experts also stated that the 14-day quarantine period is too long and turned out to be overwhelming for people who have experienced lockdown. Studies also showed that those who become infected with the virus develop symptoms within 5 to 6 days and are most contagious around that period.

However, the quarantine period could possibly depend on the individual’s lifestyle such as a longer quarantine if they visit an elderly family member.
