“Tiger King” star Carole Baskin has launched a new cryptocurrency under the name CAT and will be launched on an Ethereum-based open network.

Carole Baskin made the announcement on Big Cat Rescue’s official website and says the coin was named for cat lovers but noted it is not meant to be used as an investment tool. Our new $CAT coin is not a currency for investment, but rather is a purr-ency of our fans to show their love for the cats and to reap the benefits of being our most forward-thinking partners in creating a world where all wild cats live free,” she wrote in a blog post.
Currently, CAT has 123,600 coins and it is priced at $8.20 per coin. Fans of Baskin and her non-profit organization have already purchased 492 coins. Before she launched the coin, Baskin’s non-profit was accepting donations in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Ether as reported by Coin Telegraph.

The coin was launched on the open network Rally which allows creators and business owners on an Ethereum blockchain. Users of the coin will be able to have access to rewards such as live tours of Big Cat Rescue, discounts for merchandise, and conversations with Baskin and her volunteers.
