Brooklyn Nanny Arrested For Allegedly Shaking 3-Month-Old Infant
A live-in Brooklyn nanny has been arrested after allegedly shaking a 3-month-old infant, violently on more than once occasion. The incident left him bleeding in his brain, per law enforcement officials. Additional exams showed that the child was suffering from both an old bleed and new bleed — indicating he’d been shaken before (not as severe, but enough to cause ruptures). He’d also suffered retinal hemorrhages in both eyes.
Investigators were told by the child’s parents that they knew something was wrong with their son after he threw up all of his formula upon giving him a bottle before bedtime last Tuesday (Dec. 29). The parents say that the morning after, the immediately scheduled a doctor’s visit after they baby woke up still unwell.

The doctor believed the child was suffering a stomach virus, but after he still felt unwell into New Year’s Day, his parents rushed him to a hospital; where they were told something else was awry. This then led to the investigation of the nanny, identified as Alexis Schultz; who admitted to shaking the baby because of hunger and feeling overwhelmed while caring for him and his sister. Schultz said, “I rocked and shook the baby, his head was bobbing back and forth and the baby was crying when I was doing it.” She’s since been charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
