USC freshman guard Bronny James has declared his intention to enter the 2024 NBA draft while also maintaining his college eligibility! The young basketball prodigy, son of NBA legend LeBron James, took to Instagram on Friday to share his decision, revealing that he will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal.

He said, “I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student and athlete.” He continued, “I’ve made the decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility, and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal. Thank you to USC for an amazing Freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors athletic trainers and fans for their support.”

Having garnered attention for his exceptional talent and work ethic, James was poised to make a significant impact at USC following his standout high school career, which culminated in McDonald’s All-American honors. However, his health setback limited his playing time and performance during his freshman season, with averages of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19 minutes per game.

Bronny’s major decisionsimultaneously concludes a season at USC that began with a serious health scare and ended with his great return to the court.

As we previously reported, during a team workout in July, Bronny collapsed. It was later shared that he suffered a cardiac arrest, an incident a James family spokesperson later said was caused by a congenital heart defect.

However. Just four months later, he was cleared by doctors to return to practice. Bronny since appeared in USC’s final 25 games, starting six and averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.3 minutes, per reports.

As James embarks on this new chapter in his basketball journey, Bronny James is set to make waves in the NBA draft and continue his pursuit of greatness on the basketball court.
