Britney Spears’ father speaks out for the first time after fans speculate that the pop singer is being held against her will due to the legal 12-year conservatorship.

In an exclusive by Page Six, Jamie Spears called the #FreeBritney movement a conspiracy theory and says the fans have painted him as a cruel man who keeps Britney under control by managing her finances and emotional well-being. Spears also noted he and other members of Britney’s team have been receiving death threats from fans as a result of the #FreeBritney drama. The fans also claim he has been stealing money from her estate and keeping it under wraps.
“I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year. How the hell would I steal something? All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything. The world doesn’t have a clue. It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business. People are being stalked and targeted by death threats. It’s horrible. We don’t want those kinds of fans. I love my daughter, I love all my kids. But this is our business. It’s private.”

The movement has gained support from Britney’s peers and supporters. A petition on Change.org was created to free Britney from the conservatorship and currently has over 100,000 signatures.
