While speaking with fellow comedians Josh Widdiecombe and Rob Beckett on their podcast ‘Parenting Hell,’ 63-year-old Ross dropped a bombshell confession, leaving the audience in complete shock and awe. Ross said, “Do you think I give enough of a sh*t about anything to bother spending any extra time on grooming whatsoever? I resent the fact that I have to shower.”

Jonathan Ross then said that he and his wife can go some days without showering. He said, “I sometimes go at least a week without showering – at least. So does Jane sometimes. We’re like a couple of hamsters in their own straw in that bed.” The British TV host was then asked when was the last time he showered and said, “It was yesterday. Why bother doing it two days in a row, what’s wrong with you? I didn’t do any exercise.”

However, Ross did admit that he sometimes does shower before taking a bath so to avoid soaking in his own filth. He explained, “The other extreme though is I sometimes shower before having a bath. That’s the Japanese way. Because you’re lying in what’s coming off your body. So why would you bathe first and lie in the debris?”

Jonathan Ross later revealed that he even once went two weeks without showering. He confessed that not even the swimming pool with chlorine could get rid of the stench left on him. The British TV host said, “When we were on holiday – we have a place over in Florida – because it’s sunny and I’m jumping in and out the swimming pool, I probably didn’t shower properly for two weeks.”

He added, “And I had a smell under my right armpit, and I thought, ‘That’s bad, I better get rid of that.’ So I had a shower, it didn’t go. Had another one, it didn’t go. I’m not making this up. I had to shave the hair off my armpit to get rid of it. It was so ingrained. I just did the one. Why would you do two? The other one was still fresh. I favored one, so the right arm was doing all the work.”

While many may deem this unhealthy or nasty behavior, others don’t consider this an unhygienic move. The latter argue that washing too much can be unhealthy, noting that some medical research has apparently supported the argument. There have been two separate studies conducted that suggest there is a compelling amount of evidence showing that showering too much can damage the body’s microbiome, which is the community of microbes that live outside and inside the boy and in the guts.
