Brian Laundrie reportedly revealed in a journal entry that he killed Gabby Petito shortly before ending his own life.

The FBI revealed in their final report on the case that Laundrie confessed to killing his girlfriend and added that he sent text messages to Petito days after she was strangled to death. Their notes said that Laundrie sent the text messages to throw off law enforcement in order to give the idea that Petito was still alive.
“The investigation did not identify any other individuals other than Brian Laundrie directly involved in the tragic death of Gabby Petito. The FBI’s primary focus throughout the investigation was to bring justice to Gabby and her family,” said FBI Denver Division Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider.

Schneider also thanked the public for providing tips throughout the investigation. Petito family attorney, Richard Stafford, also thanked the FBI for working on the case and said their findings proved that Laundrie was responsible for the young woman’s death.
“We truly appreciate the FBI’s diligent and painstaking efforts in this extremely complicated case. The quality and quantity of the facts and information collected by the FBI leave no doubt the Brian Laundrie murdered Gabby.”
