BREAKING NEWS: Pfizer Has Announced A Pill To Treat COVID-19 — Would You Take This?
This Friday, Pfizer announced that it will be seeking authorization for a new antiviral pill to treat COVID-19 after clinical trials showed it to be highly effective among those who are at high risk from the coronavirus.
While Pfizer has not published the full data from the clinical trial, the pharmaceutical company explained in a news release that the pill, which is combined with ritonavir — which is an HIV drug — was shown to reduce hospitalizations or deaths from the COVID-19 virus by up to 89% among high-risk patients.

“These data suggest that our oral antiviral candidate, if approved by regulatory authorities, has the potential to save patients’ lives, reduce the severity of COVID-19 infections, and eliminate up to nine out of 10 hospitalizations,” Albert Bourla, chairman CEO of Pfizer, said.
This is now the second antiviral pill behind Merck’s to demonstrate strong effectiveness for treating Covid at the first sign of the virus. Now, if this gets cleared by regulators, not only would likely be a game-changer, but Pfizer said it plans to submit its data to the Food and Drug Administration “as soon as possible.”
