Boxing Star Devin Haney Arrested In Hollywood Over Semi-Automatic Gun Found In Car

A good night out went completely left for boxing star Devin Haney.

According to TMZ, he was arrested early this Thursday morning after cops say they found a semi-automatic handgun in his car during a routine traffic stop.

Haney was hanging out at Catch L.A. on Wednesday with some friends and reportedly left the hotspot around midnight. That’s when cops pulled over his ride due to an unsafe lane change and a failure to use a turn signal. Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Haney was not driving but the person who was the driver told officers during the stop there was a firearm inside of the vehicle.

When Haney and his security got out of the car, cops then searched around and eventually came across a semi-automatic handgun under the driver’s seat. Since no one allegedly took ownership of the gun, cops say Haney was the one who was arrested and booked for felony possession of a concealed weapon since the vehicle was registered in his name…

As TMZ reports, jail records show he was released at 8:12 AM this morning after posting $35,000 bail. He’s due in court for a hearing on the matter in August.

Haney nor his rep have yet to publicly speak out on this arrest.

While this was a big “L” he’ll sort out at a later time, Haney has been taking nothing but big wins in recent months. Haney caught the biggest win of his career when he went up against Ukrainian boxing star Vasiliy Lomachenko this past May at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. He remains an undisputed lightweight champion with 30-0.

Speaking about his W, Haney said “The bodywork is what won me the fight tonight. I knew I had to invest in that body. We watched a lot of tape on Loma, we knew he wasn’t the biggest fan of body shots so I stuck to the game plan, which was breaking him down which is why I feel like he was fighting in spurts. He would have some good moments during the round, but he wasn’t finishing the whole round strong because of me investing in the body.”

Although Lomachenko strongly felt like he won that boxing match, Haney was confident that he came out on top.

“Not every fight is gonna be pretty. Some fights you gotta show versatility and different styles and that’s what’s good about me: I can go through the fire, I can box, I can jab, I could invest in the body. I just showed that me being a young vet in the game at 24 years old, I have experience in that ring.”
