Black Student Who Fatally Shot Girl In Vehicle That Was Pursuing Him, Has Been Denied Bond

Recently we reported that William Marcus “Marc” Wilson, an astounding student with no prior history, turned himself in for fatally shooting a Statesboro girl who was in a car that was pursuing him.

Wilson, the son of Coweta County fire chief, was charged with murder and aggravated assault in the death of 17-year-old Haley Hutcheson. The judge denied bond despite Marcus voluntarily surrendering himself into the police station. He says that he only shot at the vehicle because the driver and other occupants were yelling racist remarks and tried to drive him and his girlfriend off the road.

According to the Statesboro Herald, a detective testified that Wilson told him,

“All I can tell you is me and my girlfriend were really scared that night .With everything going on in this country, I’m not going to let me and my girl get run off the road.”

Muldrew said Wilson is a “significant threat,” despite not having a prior criminal record. Muldrew also refused a request from Wilson’s defense team to reduce the charges from murder and aggravated assault to reckless conduct causing bodily harm.

Ironically, one of the occupants in Haley’s vehicle was arrested for obstruction justice because his story kept changing about the incident. The driver of the

Haley’s asked the court to deny bond because they have been getting death threats.
