Biden Says Gun Violence In The U.S. Is An ‘Epidemic & International Embarrassment’
While giving a speech on Thursday (Apr. 8), President Joe Biden not only called gun violence in the U.S. an “epidemic,” but also an “international embarrassment.”
During his speech, Biden, who’s recently announced several executive actions, like efforts to restrict homemade “ghost guns,” urged Congress to take action. He said, “Gun violence in this country is an epidemic, and it’s an international embarrassment.”

While taking a moment to highlight the recent mass shooting in South Carolina, which left five people dead, President Biden said, “Enough prayers. Time for some action.” Prior to these comments, he criticized the “phony arguments” of those claiming gun law reform constitutes an attack on the Second Amendment. He said, “But no amendment, no amendment to the Constitution is absolute. So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we’re recommending are contrary to the Constitution.”
