Beverly Hills Imposes Emergency Order Banning Gatherings In Residential Areas At Night

In an attempt to keep protestors and rioters out of Beverly Hills, the city has issued an emergency order, effective last night, banning all public gatherings of more than 10 people in residential areas at night, specifically 9 AM and 8 AM.

Officials have stated that the order will remain in place until further notice to “preserve the peace and tranquility of residential areas.” The order reportedly arrives after a June 12 demonstration, organized by a group called “Occupy,” which staged a protest in a Beverly Hills residential area from 10 PM until 1 AM, using “bullhorns and amplified music,” disrupting the peace.

Additionally, Beverly Hills City Manager George Chavez, who issued the order, says for violators of the city’s new ban, they will be subject to arrest on misdemeanor charges. Chavez adds that silent gatherings, like candlelight vigils and other private, peaceful gatherings, are exempt.
