Azealia Banks stunned her Australian fans just hours before she was set to take the stage in Brisbane on Tuesday as she canceled the gig and vowed to never tour down under again. The rapper, who is probably best known for her decade-old hit “212,” explained her reasons for no longer wanting to grace the stage in an Instagram post, saying she had experienced too many bad things during shows in Brisbane in particular that she wouldn’t put herself through another ordeal.
According to the 31-year-old, she’s apparently had some not-so-nice encounters with fans, where people threw objects at her — an act that Azealia says was supposedly racially motivated. “I’m so sorry you guys – actually I’m not sorry – but listen: last time I was in Brisbane and y’all threw shit on the stage and damn near almost fucking hit me in the face with a fucking bottle of soda or whatever that shit was,” the New Yorker told her followers.

“That was the most racist, most demoralizing experience of my fucking life and right now I’m on a really good track. Sydney and Melbourne are the only cities I really want to play.” Azealia went on to express that she wasn’t going to get in front of an audience filled with “white people” just for them to potentially put her in danger by hurling things at her during the show. “Brisbane, y’all are just going to have to take the L and smoke it,” she added.
Azealia then appeared to have had a change of heart, saying she was going to continue the show after all — but only if additional security measures would be taken to confiscate keys, coins, hair brushes, vape pens, and lighters from the venue she was scheduled to perform at. Furthermore, she asked for “no drinks on the dance floor” and if any “stupid” was to happen, she would bail on the concert without warning.
“After this run this will be my very last time touring Australia,” she retorted. “This place makes me utterly miserable and I’m too black and beautiful to have a bunch of white people in my face playing with me over their WEAK ASS CURRENCY.”
the emotional rollercoaster that azealia banks has put brisbane through over the last few hours is insane lmao

Well, it turns out that Point Productions, the company that had organized the event, ended up sending a message to those who had purchased a ticket, informing them that the concert had been canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Fans were promised an automatic refund.
“Point Productions would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused, this has been well out of our control,” the firm said in a statement.
