Megastar Rihanna recently opened up in a cover story for @interviewmagazine, discussing her iconic 2012 VMA performance with A$AP Rocky and hinting at the idea of expanding her family. The singer also shared insights into her personal life, including her relationship with the Harlem rapper.
While speaking with Mel Ottenberg, the two kicked off by reflecting on the memorable moment from the 2012 VMAs when Rocky shockingly grabbed her butt on stage. Rihanna reminisced about the playful and spontaneous nature of their performance, revealing they didn’t talk about it before performed at the awards show! She said, “So that was the day that we thought we met. At rehearsal, so it was, like, manager to manager, client to client.” So when he grabbed my a** that night, everybody thought I was about to…” Ottenberg interjected and said, “That you guys were f*cking.” Rihanna replied, “No, my team was worried that I wanted to have his head on a f*cking mantle,” she said while laughing. “But I was like, ‘Ah, nah.’ That’s why everybody was like, ‘Oh my god. She likes him?’”
Rihanna went on to say it took some time for them to get to know each other. “We’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve seen him in relationships. He’s seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships. We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives. We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating with a lot of caution.” Clearly the two eventually hit it off at the right time and the rest is history. Now, further into the interview, Riri was asked “How many more kids do you want?” She honestly replied, “As many as god wants me to have,” before adding:
“I don’t know what god wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”

The couple — who have been together since 2020 — share two children together: sons RZA, 1, and Riot. Although the musical artists weren’t actively planning to start a family when they became pregnant with their first child, Rihanna previously admitted to Vogue that the two were “certainly not planning against it” either.
