Aubrey O’Day Addresses Why She Photoshopped Herself Into Stock Vacation Photos On Instagram: ‘I’m Making Art’

Aubrey O’Day caused a stir on social media earlier this year when a TikTok creator called her out for editing herself into stock vacation photos. While the singer was quick to defend herself by insisting that though the snaps were altered with the use of Photoshop, all of the photos she posts on social media are actually places she’s previously visited.

To double down on her past comments on the matter, Aubrey appeared on “The Tamron Hall Show” on Tuesday to clear up any further confusion by asserting that because she’s an artist, she has the right to express herself how she sees fit. “I’m making art,” the former Danity Kane member said. “I’ve been to all these places and after these photos, I do post the videos of how it looked. But in order to get to this place, you have to scale a mountain for about two hours. I don’t have a caboodle of makeup and my wigs.”

On a more serious note, the interview later touched on Aubrey’s past addiction to prescription pills, as she recalled taking a trip to Bali in the hopes that she could come off her substance abuse and learn to lead a sober life. The “Damaged” singer said that she became so hooked on the prescriptions that she ended up taking 16 pills a day. Tamron quizzed if she had beaten her addiction completely, prompting Aubrey to respond, “I was able to let go of the chip on my shoulder that was making it impossible for me to be happy in this world, living.”

It was back in August when the ex-reality star took to her Instagram to slam the TikToker who had tried to shame her for editing and altering her photos.

In view of her one million followers, the 38-year-old stressed, “I am so sorry to your place of work that allows you to sit on my page all day with binoculars.. but I suggest you learn this lesson fast: you don’t even need to concentrate on others to be your own version of special and necessary in this world.. you can make positive changes just by using your own gifts.. stop looking left and right if you wanna move forward.”
