More information is being revealed about the tragic death of Memphis Grizzlies star Brandon Clarke. Authorities confirmed on Friday that the 29-year-old forward passed away in May due to the effects of heroin and cocaine.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has officially ruled the basketball player’s death as accidental.

Clarke was discovered dead at a home near Los Angeles on May 11. While the investigation was ongoing, sources told The Associated Press that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
The loss hits especially hard for the Grizzlies organization, as Clarke was a staple of the team, having spent all seven of his professional seasons in Memphis after his standout college career at Gonzaga. He was under contract with the franchise through the 2026-27 season.
This tragedy follows a difficult period for the athlete; just six weeks before his passing, Clarke had been arrested in Arkansas on charges of speeding, reckless driving and possessing a controlled substance.
