Ariana Grande just released her new album ‘Eternal Sunshine‘ on Friday (March 8) and fans are dragging her ex-husband, real estate broker Dalton Gomez, claiming infidelity might have been the reason why the singer’s marriage ended in divorce, amongst other issues seemingly hinted at on the singer’s new album.
As we previously shared, in May 2021, Ariana Grande, 30, and Dalton Gomez, 28, shocked the world when they secretly got married. The two first got engaged ahead of Christmas 2020, less than a year after they were first seen together in February 2020. In 2022, the couple seemed to be head over heels in love and things seemed to be all good.
At the time, a source told Entertainment Tonight, “Ariana and Dalton are doing really well as a married couple. Dalton really just loves Ariana and goes out of his way to make her happy and show her how important she is to him. He is very supportive and constantly cheering her on. He does little things to be there for her and show her how much she matters to him, which she really appreciates.” Following ET’s report, Grande even took to her Instagram Story to share a sweet photo of them, where she called Gomez “my love.”
By April 2023, the two were both “keeping busy with work projects,” according to a source for ET. Grande had been working on ‘Wicked,’ and Dalton was busy with his own career. The source said, “Ariana has been so focused, but Dalton has been there with her and supporting her behind the scenes. He is happy for her and they are very in love.”
The following month, the two celebrated their two-year anniversary. Taking to her Instagram Story on May 15, 2023, Grande shared a photo of them kissing during their private wedding ceremony. She captioned the image, “2, (3.5 together!!!) i love him so.”
Two months after celebrating two years of marriage, Ariana Grande was spotted outside without her wedding ring, sparking speculation surrounding a split. On July 16, 2023, Grande stepped out to attend the Wimbledon men’s tennis final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. She went with her openly gay ‘Wicked‘ co-star Jonathan Bailey and was notably seen without a diamond on her ring finger.
The following day, sources told TMZ that Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez had been separated since January and were heading toward divorce after two years of marriage. The source claimed the two had tried a reconciliation months before but to no avail. The source added that the two had been thousands of miles apart since December, when Grande began filming ‘Wicked,’ and they also alleged that they were having problems even before that.
Additional sources told ET, “They’ve been quietly and lovingly working on their friendship.” A second source said, “Ariana and Dalton’s friends have always been concerned by their whirlwind romance and felt their relationship would ultimately be short-lived. Their relationship has been rocky at different points, and they’ve had trouble making time for each other with scheduling issues.” A third echoed, “Ariana and Dalton tried to make things work, but ultimately they were just not a good fit. Dalton has been very private and low-key about their relationship with his work colleagues and hasn’t been talking a lot about their split.”
Just days after making separation headlines, Ariana Grande was back in the news, with reports claiming she was dating her ‘Wicked‘ co-star Ethan Slater. A couple of days after that, Slater’s wife, Lilly Jay, claimed she was “completely blindsided” by their alleged relationship. A couple more days later, Slater filed for divorce from his wife.
In September 2023, Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez officially filed for divorce and settled in October. TMZ reported that the “Thank U, Next” singer was ordered to pay her ex-husband a one-time tax-free payment of $1,250,000 and that he would also get half of the net proceeds of their Los Angeles home sale. However, he would not be collecting spousal support. Per the terms of their agreement, Grande would also cover up to $25,000 of Gomez’s attorney fees.

Since all of last year’s double divorce drama, Ariana Grande has now dropped a new album, ‘Eternal Sunshine,’ and after listening to the project, some of her fans think she’s seemingly hinting at infidelity playing a major role in her marriage ending with Dalton Gomez.
In the title song “eternal sunshine,” Grande accuses a man of lying and cheating as she sings, “I’ve never seen someone lie like you do / So much, even you start to think it’s true / So now we play our separate scenes / Now, now she’s in my bed, mm-mm, layin’ on your chest / Now I’m in my head, wonderin’ how it ends.”

She later sings, “Showed you all my demons, all my lies / Yet you played me like Atari.” Later into the track, Grande’s lyrics suggest she’s now in love with another as she sings, “Now, it’s like I’m lookin’ in the mirror / Hope you feel alright when you’re in her, I found a good boy and he’s on my side.”
Neither Ariana Grande nor Dalton Gomez have publicly spoken out about the reason for their separation and subsequent divorce, but Grande’s fans believe their favorite singer was done dirty by her husband. Furthermore, due to all of her fans relentlessly commenting their suspicions, Ariana Grande has since taken to her Instagram Story to tell them to back down.
She said, “I just wanted to say anyone that is sending hateful messages to the people in my life based on your interpretation of this album is not supporting me and is absolutely doing the polar opposite of what I would ever encourage (and is also entirely misinterpreting the intention behind the music)… I ask that you please do not. It is not how to support me. It is the opposite. Although this album captures a lot of painful moments, it also is woven together with a through line of deep, sincere love. If you cannot hear that, please listen more closely.”
